Technology is moving faster than we thought. We went from HD to 4K and now here we are at 8K. The real question is should you invest in 8K or settle for 4K TV/Projector.
From 2020 we have seen a lot of new TV and projectors are coming in 8K technology. But, the real question is where is the 8K content? Before we jump into topics let’s do some basics.
What is 8K
8K is a higher resolution than 4K—and that's it. 1080p screens have a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. 4K screens double those numbers to 3,840 by 2,160 and quadruple the number of pixels. 8K doubles the numbers again, to a resolution of 7,680 by 4,320.
The 8K resolution has about 8,000 columns horizontally. Or 7,680 x 4,320 pixels, distributed over the respective display size in the classic 16:9 format, which is four times more pixels than with 4K and 16 times as many pixels as with Full HD.

Should you buy 8K?
Until you can easily get 8K content, it's really hard to invest in 8K projectors. Up-scaling might help fill the gap until native 8K content becomes commonplace. The best 4K TVs already include sophisticated up-scaling algorithms that interpolate pixels to boost picture quality, rather than simply stretching the image. Also, you need to buy HDMI 2.0 cables which cost higher than normal cables.
Honestly, probably not. But it's a better buy now than it's ever been, with more options and better prices from major manufacturers, and TVs that will fit in your living room.
Is 8K better than 4K? Yes, but there are a couple of caveats. That higher resolution is genuinely impressive, but only when watching 8K material. Upscale 4K material doesn't have quite the same impact.
